T.I. has shared plans for “ATL 2”.
Rappers’ feature film debuts are rarely as successful as T.I.’s in ATL. The 2006 film, directed by prolific music video director Christopher Robinson, earned pretty good reviews, and a cult-like appreciation upon release. It paired the stylish camerawork of hip hop videos with a fair bit of heart, and in using the stories of Dallas Austin and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins as source material, it made for an authentic coming-of-age story.
Fans of the film will be excited to hear that it will be earning it’s often hinted at sequel, ATL 2 in the near future. Tip has shared some info on the project, as well as a screen cap, confirming that Chris Robinson will return as director.
It’s been close to 10 years since the first film hit theatres, but it seems that much of the cast will be reprising their roles, as Jackie Long, Albert Daniels, and Jason Weaver, who played T.I.’s squad in the original, are pictured in a familiar setting in the photo.
It seems that filming has begun, so look out for it soon.
